About Moderator

Janice Bond is a cultural architect, curator, and art advisor dedicated to building equitable creative ecosystems. Her work as an interdisciplinary artist traverses the complex terrain of humanity, nature, and identity. A Houston native, Janice has opened a gallery in the city, Art is Bond, and was the Auction Manager for the 2022 FotoFest Biennial. She is also the incoming International Director of Civic Art and Immersive Experiences for SEISMIQUE. Janice has brought a transformative approach to previous positions as Deputy Director of the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston (2020) and Director of Music and Social Programming at the Kimpton Gray Hotel in Chicago, Illinois and the Hotel Van Zandt in Austin, Texas. She founded Bond Creative Advisors in 2009 to guide artistic collectives and institutions toward their visions.

About Featured Guest

Kingsley Kofi Deffor, popularly known as Deff Art (b. 1985, Accra, Ghana) is an interdisciplinary artist who lives and works in Ghana. Deffor works primarily as a painter, inspired by human form and energy, as well as the visual artist Herbert Gentry and Jean-Michel Basquiat. He is also inspired by the hard-working people and music from his hometown Anloga, because their perseverance in the face of adversity inspires them to work intentionally, and hard. The main subject of Kingsley’s works are everyday people. His art-making process consists of figurative to abstract paintings on mixed media, and his collaborations include a host of companies and individuals. Some include: Addidas Ghana, Acrilex Ghana, Harley Davidson Accra, The Embassy Of Mexico and also Orca Deco Accra. He is also a muralist who has participated in multiple street festivals across Accra.
