Imagine a museum worthy of the culture that changed the world.

For generations, Atlanta has been celebrated as a global center of Black creativity. However, no major arts institution has risen to reflect that truth.

It is not simply a structure housing objects to be looked upon, but a space where we can gather, connect, and affirm the beauty of us.

Ubuntu is a Zulu saying meaning “I am because we are.” The practice of call and response is an African tradition. It involves the audience in the production of the art.

African diasporic creative expression is often a collaborative practice that not only engages community, but requires its active input. At ADAMA we embrace our role as a vital part of this exchange. 

As we build this institution, our vision is to be one of true reflection; reflection of our community’s face, values, and vision.
